EMBROIDERY 101: HOW TO EMBROIDER

There’s something about making things beautiful that speaks to my soul, Embroidery is my new favourite creative outlet, you don’t even need a pattern to follow like cross stitch.  it’s all free-handed so you can sit on the beach, camping, watching your kids sports, or even binge-watching Netflix. I taught myself, thanks to you tube and Pinterest so I thought it would be fun to share with all of you my favourite free patterns, and the best go-to you tube tutorials to get you started.

I’m working on this one it’s so freaking cute… Free Flamingo Embroidery Patterns here

Materials needed:

embroidery thread in any colours you want

embroidery Hoop

embroidery Needles

pattern to trace

linen fabric

pencil

scissors

first, you need to trace the pattern on some light linen fabric. I always use my window and tape down and start tracing.

This design has 6 embroidery stitch techniques:

Back-stitch

Layered back-stitch/Brick Stitch

Wagon Wheel/Woven Rose

Leaf/Fishbone Stitch

French Knot

Padded Satin Stitch

I love Sew What with Alicia she explains how to create this project from start to finish, including your much-needed stitch patterns.

Here’s my “Let’s Flamingo” after it’s been coloured in with watercolour pencils and painted. Cute right!!

Check out Sew What Alicia she has the cutest way of finishing off the back of her embroidery!

This is also perfect for kids so they can keep their hands busy, Bryer and Nixon Love to try to they have fun filling in the spaces they missed with watercolour pencils.

There are so many fun FREE patterns here on our Pinterest board check

them out and give us a follow.

Hope you enjoyed this cute and easy embroidery how to post!

XO Angie
